Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full time administrative experience (student experience may be considered).

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Career or academic coaching experience within a diverse college population. Experience designing and presenting F2F & virtual content for a diverse college educated audience. Experience with technology applications, such as online career research databases, career networking sites or web-based recruitment systems.

Career

Coaching:

Coach and prepare students individually and in groups via F2F and virtual, on job/internship search strategies, helping students to clarify career interests, compose strong personal branding and applications, and present professionally. Guide students on the use of Handshake and other career tools; conduct mock interviews and critique application materials.

Programming/Event Management: Organize F2F and virtual programs to prepare students for the workforce. Provide logistical support for employer-student events (i.e. career fairs, networking meet‑ups). Use a variety of technologies to support these activities. Staff events that occur in the evenings and on weekends.

Outreach and Campus Liaison Work: Serve as liaison to select academic departments, faculty, and staff, as well as career focused student organizations.

Information Management & Teamwork: Uses sophisticated career center management software and other survey tools to collect data and track placements in collaboration with VIS. Review, approve, and promote opportunities posted in our recruitment system, Handshake.

Professional Development and Committee Involvement: Participates in opportunities that promote their learning, growth, and development (i.e., classes, training, committees, webinars). Contributes to the Division of Student Affairs and Stony Brook University by attending and/or supporting events, activities, and programs sponsored by areas within and outside of your department/unit (i.e., campus‑wide traditions, events, programs). Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Evening and weekend work may be required at times.

Special Notes: This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non-Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Salary: $60,000 + $4,000 Location Pay = $64,000 Total Compensation.
