Sr. Accountant

Description

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team in Stony Brook, New York, on a long-term contract basis.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to utilize your expertise in accounting processes such as month-end close, general ledger management, and reconciliations. The ideal candidate will bring a detail-oriented mindset and a strong ability to manage financial operations effectively.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee and execute month-end closing procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

- Maintain and manage the general ledger, ensuring all entries are properly recorded and reconciled.

- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

- Conduct thorough account reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies.

- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accurate cash flow tracking.

- Utilize Yardi software for accounting tasks and financial management processes.

- Collaborate with team members to streamline accounting operations and improve efficiency.

- Ensure adherence to all financial regulations and internal policies.

- Provide support during audits by preparing and organizing required documentation.

- Analyze financial data to assist in strategic decision-making processes.

Requirements - Proven experience in accounting roles with a focus on month-end close and general ledger management.

- Proficiency in preparing journal entries and conducting account reconciliations.

- Strong knowledge of bank reconciliation processes.

- Familiarity with Yardi software is highly desirable.

- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.

- Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.

- Solid understanding of accounting principles and regulatory requirements.

- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
