Overview

Zachry Nuclear Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking a Drafter, Electrical and I&C for a direct hire position located in Charlotte, NC or Stonington, CT office.

Position Synopsis: Drafter, EIC will be relied upon to apply manual and computerized drafting methods with a working knowledge of the terms and procedures to prepare various electrical and control drawings including wiring diagrams, one-lines, and schematics to represent the electrical design. Drafter, EIC must be able to draft complex drawings in a 2-D or 3-D environment as per project requirements.

Drafter, EIC must be able to demonstrate the ability to draw complex electrical systems from sketches using appropriate symbology, terms, procedures, and drafting standards. Other responsibilities may include preparation of bills of material, resolution of client comments and as-built drawing preparation. Assignments will be completed utilizing information provided by engineers or design staff under the direction of a supervisor.

Education Required (minimum)

Associate s degree in drafting/design/engineering technology or equivalent from 2-year college or technical school or equivalent job related experience. (2 years job related experience equivalent to 1-year college) is required.

Experience Required (minimum)

One (1) year (minimum) experience in engineering drafting and familiarity with basic drafting techniques is required, in addition to educational requirements. Able to accurately draw complex electrical/controls systems from sketches or specifications using appropriate terms, procedures and drafting standards is required. Able to demonstrate the ability to utilize various drafting and CADD techniques for project requirements is required. Able to produce complex drawings in a 2-D and 3-D environment is required.

Required Qualifications (minimum)

All applicants must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Effective time management skills are required as position may involve working on several projects concurrently. Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access is required. Successful candidate will be required to understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and processes.

Overtime work will be required vel to client sites with occasional periods of field/office work is required.

Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, working at heights, carrying equipment up to 50 pounds, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous (e.g., high temperatures, high radiation) areas is required.

Preferred Experience

Knowledge of Micro Station and AutoCAD is preferred. Experience with Laser Scanning tools, total stations, software, and registration is a plus.
