Essential

Job Duties
  • Manages a functional team within the department.
  • Oversees the delivery of high-quality educational programs and oversees the process of identifying and evaluating students with disabilities.
  • Organizes programs and processes, establishes tasks for the team, and sets priorities.
  • Works on issues requiring the analysis of data and a variety of relevant factors to resolve.
  • Identifies and resolves operational issues that may fall outside of established guidelines as they arise; recommends process improvements where needed based on sound project workflow principles.
  • Hires and places speech, occupational, and physical therapists and related service providers in schools to provide necessary services to students.
  • Develops, presents, and oversees professional development and training programs aimed at enhancing staff competencies.
  • Represents the district in meetings and provides support to students with disabilities or those suspected of having disabilities.
  • Partners with other educational entities to improve service delivery while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Attends planning and policy meetings to contribute actively to the development of educational strategies and goals within the district.
  • Supervises personnel evaluations within the parameters of district policies and resolves operational issues through data analysis when necessary.
  • Interacts with subordinates, supervisors, and functional peer groups to interpret and explain information as necessary.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Education, Education Administration, or a closely related area from a Professional Standards Commission-approved accredited college or university and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience required.
  • A valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission-approved certificate in educational leadership at levels L5, NL-5, and PL-6 is required. If a level L-5, NL-5, PL-6, or above certificate is not held, the individual must be eligible for the NPL certificate in educational leadership.
