Roadside Recovery Driver – Job Summary

As our Roadside Recovery Driver, you’ll go the extra mile for our customers. Push for Better. Join The AA.

Key Details
  • On Target Earnings: £41,000 for a CE licence, £35,000 for a C licence
  • Guaranteed salary: c. £33,862 for CE (HGV1) licence, £30,490 for C (HGV2) licence
  • Depot postcode: ST5 7RX
  • Shifts: Rolling rota, working 18 out of 28 days with 2 weekends off. Standard shifts 9h45min (incl. 45 min break). End‑of‑shift flexibility: may work up to 12 hours incl. break.
  • Uniform and equipment: Full uniform, boots, and best available equipment provided.
  • Free breakdown cover from day one.
  • Holiday: 23 days (increases with service).
  • Pension: Up to 7% company contribution.

Responsibilities
  • A communicator: You're great with your customers, calm, reassuring and professional in all situations, ensuring your customer feels safe and their needs are being taken care of.
  • A self‑starter: Work independently, collaborate as part of a team, drive to different locations in all weathers.
  • A fixer/problem solver: Thrive in all situations, utilise your expertise to solve a variety of issues.
Qualifications
  • Residential proximity: Must live within 25 miles or 1 hour travel from the depot – postcode included in advert.
  • Driving licence: Full category C licence (HGV2). CE (HGV1) licence is preferable but not essential.
  • Driver CPC and digital drivers/tachograph card required.
  • Adaptability to new technology – training will be provided.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
