Social Worker
Location: Glebe Street, ST4 1RN

Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 11+ months
Working Hours: Mon Fri, 09 00

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide social work services across the Stoke-on-Trent area, including hospital and community settings.

  • Undertake assessments, care planning, and interventions in line with statutory requirements and best practice.

  • Ensure safeguarding of adults and promote their safety, wellbeing, and independence.

  • Apply relevant legislation, guidance, and social work standards to all practice decisions.

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records and documentation.

  • Work collaboratively with families, service users, and multi-agency partners to deliver integrated care.

  • Contribute to service development, continuous improvement, and identify opportunities for better ways of working.

  • Travel across the city as required to meet the needs of service users.

Person Specifications
Must-Have

  • Qualified Social Worker with current or in-process HCPC registration.

  • Recognised social work qualification.

  • Minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience in adult social care.

  • Detailed knowledge of adult safeguarding principles and best practice.

  • Understanding of key legislation and guidance underpinning work with adults.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work across the geographic area, with a valid driving licence or access to alternative transport.

  • Commitment to continuous improvement and a proactive approach to practice.

  • Eligibility to work in the UK and valid NI number.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience working in hospital or community-based adult social care services.

  • Familiarity with Stoke-on-Trent City Council procedures and local networks.

  • Experience contributing to audits, quality improvement, or service transformation initiatives.

  • Ability to mentor or support junior social workers.
