Overview

University Hospitals of North Midlands (UHNM) is currently unable to provide sponsorship for this role. This is in accordance with UKVI guidelines and legislation, as these roles do not meet the skill nor salary threshold for sponsorship. If you hold a graduate visa, you are welcome to apply for this role; however, it is important to note that UHNM will be unable to offer sponsorship at the end of your graduate visa, and you must also have at least six months until your graduate visa expires at the start of your employment for training and operational reasons.

Working as part of the Trust's Financial Services team, the role is based in the Cashiers Office and responsible for the day‑to‑day administration of the Cashiers function.

Core Responsibilities
  • Control and recording of all monies/valuables brought to the Cashiers Office.
  • Paying out monies/valuables ensuring a high level of customer service at all times.
  • Adhering to Standing Financial Instructions, best accounting practice and statutory legislation.
  • Ensuring the efficient daily running of the Cashiers Office.
  • Receiving and recording monies from around the Trust; taking and processing card payments either in person or via the telephone.
  • Reconciling and preparing all income for banking and collection by the courier company.
  • Receipt and safekeeping of patient monies, valuables and lost property (valuables) and returning the property to the appropriate individual.
  • Payment of patient travelling expenses in line with Healthcare Travel Costs guidelines.
  • Handling petty cash reimbursements.
  • Dealing with enquiries from patients, relatives, members of the public and Trust staff by telephone or in person.
  • Occasional lone working; making informed decisions regarding reimbursement of travelling expenses.

Visa and Sponsorship

In line with the change of immigration rules on 8th January 2026, if you require sponsorship through the Skilled Worker Visa you must be able to provide B2 English evidence before a Certificate of Sponsorship can be issued. If you hold a graduate visa, you are welcome to apply provided you have at least six months until your graduate visa expires at the start of your employment.

UHNM will be unable to offer sponsorship at the end of your graduate visa. The requirement of at least six months remaining on your visa does not apply to a Skilled Worker Visa, as a new Skilled Worker Visa would be required for a new role.
