Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) – Contract
Location: Staffordshire
Rate: £37 per hour
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off – Days & Nights
Hours: 6:30am–6:30pm / 6:30pm–6:30am
Contract Length: Ongoing (minimum 3 months)
Start: Immediate / ASAP
Role OverviewWe are recruiting a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) on a contract basis to support a high-volume FMCG manufacturing site in Staffordshire. This is a hands‑on, shift‑based role focused on keeping production running through effective fault‑finding, breakdown response and planned maintenance.
Key Responsibilities- Electrical fault‑finding and reactive maintenance
- Planned preventative maintenance (PPMs)
- Supporting production to minimise downtime
- Assisting with continuous improvement and engineering projects
- Accurate completion of maintenance records and fault logs
- Fault‑finding on motors, drives, sensors, panels and control circuits
- Electrical isolation, testing and reinstatement
- Supporting upgrades and improvement work
- Basic PLC fault‑finding (where applicable)
- Supporting mechanical maintenance as required
- Working on conveyors, motors and drive systems
- Assisting with mechanical strip‑downs and repairs
- Automated FMCG production lines
- Conveyors, packaging and slicing machinery
- Process equipment including mixers and ovens
- Working safely at all times in line with site procedures
- Completing permits, risk assessments and safe systems of work
- Proven Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer with strong electrical bias
- FMCG / food manufacturing or high‑speed production background
- Confident electrical fault‑finding skills
- Mechanical competence to support production
- Relevant electrical qualifications (NVQ / HNC or equivalent)
