The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) is a large teaching hospital serving over 3 million people. The Trust has 2 hospital sites;
The Royal Stoke Hospital and County Hospital in Stafford.

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Operational Services Manager within the Respiratory, Gastroenterology and Infectious Diseases Directorate working closely with the Clinical Director, Directorate Manager and senior leadership team.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an outstanding Senior Operational Services Manager within the Respiratory, Gastroenterology and Infectious Diseases Directorate who puts our patients first, interacts well with the team, wants to develop professionally and has great problem solving skills.

As the Senior Operational Services Manager you will play a crucial role within the Directorate to ensure efficient and effective operational management.

You will support the team in ensuring that national and local targets are delivered. You will assist with the management of complaints and to deputise for the senior leadership team wherever necessary.

We are looking for someone who would like to develop within a management role that is able to demonstrate excellent inter-personal and communication skills, with the ability to forge and maintain relationships.

The ability to manage a busy workload and to prioritise, quickly find solutions is essential.

Job responsibilities

You will have a key role supporting the efficient and effective operational management of the Directorate working across a range of projects together with the Clinical Director, Directorate Manager and senior team across both Stoke and County Hospital sites.

Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level or relevant experience
  • Diploma/Degree in Management or health related subject
Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience
  • 2 years experience of working in an acute trust in a management role
  • Ability to support service delivery to patients including management of waiting lists
  • Operational management skills
  • Awareness of NHS plan access targets
  • Knowledge of workforce planning
  • Leadership and team building skills
  • Awareness of Trust policies and procedures

    Experience of management of change issues
  • Experience of introducing innovative practice

  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Acts to support and enable effective teamwork
  • Takes responsibility and is accountable for delivering objectives
