Fabric Technician – Royal Mail

We are now recruiting for a Fabric Technician covering the Stoke on Trent and Derby area.

Salary: £29,412.69 – £32,774.12 per annum (dependent upon skills and experience)
Annual leave: 22.5 days per year, rising to 25 days with 5 years of service plus bank holidays.

Contract type: Permanent, Full time (37.5 hours per week, excluding meal breaks). Typical attendance 07:00 – 15:00 Monday to Friday. Flexibility around attendance essential. Potential requirement to join a call‑out rota. Standby allowance c £290 per week when on call‑out rota, appropriate overtime rate when attending call‑outs.

• Primary contact with end users or main customers, working closely with Building Engineering Technicians, Asset Technicians, and Fabric Team Managers.
• Provide knowledge of the Building Fabric industry to the customer, guaranteeing a first‑class service to ensure premises are secure and safe at all times.
• Apply technical knowledge to a range of situations requiring previous experience and judgment to solve fabric‑related problems or ensure completion of projects.
• Ensure full compliance with RMPFS health and safety policies and procedures to ensure safety of colleagues, customers, and the public.

• Computer literate, particularly in electronic management systems and email, with effective communication skills, able to actively listen and transmit important messages.
• Sound knowledge and practical experience of carpentry and wet trades and a good knowledge of Building Fabric product.
• Full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
• Experience in the building fabric field (preferred).
