Senior Support Worker – Therapeutic Children’s Residential Home

Location:

Cheadle, ST10

Salary: £34,726 – £36,930 per year (average annual earnings)

Hours:

48 hours per week (sleep-ins included in contracted hours)
Rota: 2 days on / 4 days off
Age range: 4–12 years
Care model:
Trauma-informed, therapeutic residential care

We are currently recruiting an experienced Senior Support Worker to join a therapeutic children’s residential home based in Cheadle, Stoke. The service supports children aged 4–12 years who have experienced early trauma and present with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

This is a hands-on senior role for someone confident in leading shifts, supporting staff development and delivering high-quality, trauma-informed care within a clinically informed environment.

About the service

The home provides a safe, nurturing and structured environment focused on emotional recovery, stability and positive outcomes. Care is delivered alongside education and clinical input as part of a therapeutic programme.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead shifts and maintain high standards of care

* Support staff development and model best practice

* Implement care plans, risk assessments and behaviour strategies

* Build positive relationships with children and professionals

* Ensure safeguarding procedures and regulatory requirements are met

Requirements

* Previous experience in children’s residential care

* Level 3/ 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)

* Confidence managing challenging behaviour therapeutically

* Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills

* Flexibility to work long days and sleep-ins
