Hours of work: 24 hours per week

8 hours per day 9am – 5pm Wednesday to Friday.

Rate of pay: £12.21 per hour rising to £12.71 per in April.

About the employer

Our client is an 83-year-old female living in the Stoke Heath area of Bromsgrove who is looking to recruit a Personal Assistant to provide support with daily living tasks for 24 hours per week over three days.

Our client suffered a life changing stroke and as a result their verbal communication is limited but retains a good understanding, this is also accompanied by limited dexterity skills.

Main duties

Social duties:

  • Keep in touch and socialise with family and friends
  • Support to attend medical appointments if required
  • Support with hobbies such as jigsaw puzzles and listening to music.
  • Support visiting the local garden centre and visits to the local town for a coffee weather permitting.

Personal care:
Support with personal care when required during the day.

Domestic duties:
Support with making lunchtime sandwiches and drinks throughout the day and support maintaining a clean home environment.

Specific requirements:

  • An all‑round good communicator with the ability to act on the client’s behalf when communication is required. Experience in the care sector is desirable but not essential.
  • Must be a non‑smoker.
  • Must be happy to work around dogs as client has a small and friendly dog.

Other:
Due to the nature of this role including personal care the potential employer will be considering mature female applicants only.

Skills, qualifications, and experience

Essential:

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Car and appropriate insurance
  • Experience in the care sector is desirable but not essential
  • Good communication skills
  • Non‑smoker
  • Confidentiality
  • Good at building relationships
