About the RoleWe have an exciting opportunity for a new member of staff to join our team in Substance Misuse on the Edward Myers Inpatient Unit. We support the clinical team in providing a meaningful and therapeutic day for the patient group by providing diversional activities, support and practical assistance without direct supervision of qualified staff. These activities may take place in either an inpatient or community setting. To contribute to the effective running of the unit, we undertake appropriate basic nursing and housekeeping tasks if delegated, establish and maintain rapport with service users, carers, relatives and visitors, and contribute to a positive and welcoming atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities- Support the clinical team in providing diversional activities, support and practical assistance without direct supervision.
- Assist with delegated interventions and support to the client group at a level appropriate to the experience and skills base of the post holder.
- Contribute to maintaining a positive physical and emotional care environment.
- Carry out specific tasks involving direct nursing care as required without direct supervision of qualified staff.
- Collaborate with other members of the multi‑disciplinary team.
- Undertake appropriate basic nursing and housekeeping tasks if delegated.
- Establish and maintain rapport with service users, carers, relatives and visitors, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere.
- Priority will be given to NHS staff across the region who are at risk of redundancy, where the vacancy is at the same band or one below their current band and candidates meet the essential criteria for this post.
- All employees new to the Trust will be subject to a 6‑month probationary period.
- All clinical staff bands 2‑4 that are new to the Trust will be required to complete a Care Certificate.
- Canvassing of members of the Trust or any Committee of the Trust directly or indirectly for any appointment under the Trust disqualifies the candidate.
- Travel expenses for interview attendance will not be paid.
- All posts involving access to persons in receipt of health services will be subject to a Disclosure & Barring Service Disclosure.
- Provide full contact details for all referees, especially their email addresses where possible.
