Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the cardiology team at the University Hospitals of the North Midlands.

The cardiology department at the University Hospitals of the North Midlands provides cardiac diagnostic testing for inpatients, outpatients and in emergency care portals. Resting electrocardiography and ambulatory ECG monitoring are an essential part of our cardiology services and are the primary focus of this role.

Working across sites, including County Hospital, Royal Stoke Hospital and the Community Diagnostic Centre, the successful candidate will provide ECG clinics and arrhythmia monitoring services. In addition, this role involves assisting senior healthcare scientists in the provision of specialist cardiac clinics. The successful applicant will join an established team of 15 healthcare science assistants.

The cardiology department has an established training & development programme to provide the practical skills required for providing a range of specialist non-invasive cardiac investigations. This role will include recording ECGs, ambulatory Holter monitoring hook-up, organisation of OP clinics and support for specialist cardiac diagnostic clinics led by senior healthcare scientists. Services are provided at the newly commissioned community diagnostic centre as well as at both Royal Stoke & County Hospital sites.

Candidates will need to be able to travel to each of these settings.

Responsibilities
  • Record ECGs (12-lead resting ECG) and support ambulatory ECG monitoring.
  • Set up and monitor ambulatory Holter monitoring as required.
  • Organise outpatient clinics and provide support for specialist cardiac diagnostic clinics.
  • Assist senior healthcare scientists in delivering non-invasive cardiac investigations.
  • Provide ECG clinics and arrhythmia monitoring services across multiple sites (County Hospital, Royal Stoke Hospital, Community Diagnostic Centre).
  • Travel between sites as needed to fulfil duties.
  • Contribute to the training and development programme within the department.
