Position: Independent Prescriber (Ref:0098ZD)
Location: Stoke-on-Trent

We are looking for a Independent Prescriber to join us in Stoke-on-Trent. Our Stoke Community Drug and Alcohol service are recruiting for an experienced Independent Prescriber to join them in providing high quality recovery care to a diverse client group. If you are a registered Nurse or a Registered Pharmacist who thrives working in a community setting, assessing and supporting people, this might be the role for you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out clinical assessment, diagnosis, and clinical management in line with With You regulations, national regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Work as part of a large clinical team at the main base while also conducting outreach to clinics across Stoke-on-Trent.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the treatments you prescribe and help With You to develop, implement and evaluate the interventions used with clients.
  • Assist with harm reduction, providing support and advice in relation to substance misuse.
  • Assist with clinics: assess, screen and triage clients, advise on detoxification where appropriate.
  • Assist with vaccination and blood testing programmes.
  • Collaborate with other social and healthcare professionals to deliver best outcomes for clients, including proactive community outreach.
  • Work closely with Operational & Clinical Leadership and Recovery Workers to ensure clinical and psychosocial needs are met, prescribing is safe, effective and in accordance with best practice.
Key Qualifications and Experience
  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or a Registered Pharmacist (GPhC).
  • Successfully completed the supplementaryере/independent prescriber course and hold an appropriate entry on the NMC register or GPhC register.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Successful track record of delivering nursing interventions in a community setting.
  • Demonstrated experience of healthcare assessments, care planning and key working.
  • Evidence of peer working or working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of the issues affecting substance misusers, including the impact on their wider health.
  • Effective teamwork skills, using collaborative and supportive approaches.
  • Strong organisational/time management skills, capable of managing competing and conflicting demands.
  • Comfortable and confident using IT packages.
  • Accurate gathering and maintaining of records and information.
  • Passion for the work, with a positive and engaging approach to clients and staff.
