Home Therapies Clinical Nurse Specialist
Permanent contract
Are you looking for a new challenge? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and well‑motivated staff nurse to join our Home Therapies team at the University Hospital of North Midlands. The post holder will work alongside a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists in the training and management of home haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients and will work closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
The applicant will need to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a caring and compassionate attitude. Previous experience is desirable but not essential as continuing education, support and training to develop and achieve competencies relevant to the role will be provided. A full driving licence will be required.
As a member of the Home Therapies Team, the post holder will be responsible for the management of a caseload of home therapy (peritoneal dialysis and home haemodialysis) patients. The CNS will provide specialist training to patients and/or their support persons in both hospital and community settings. The CNS will manage the clinical area, including assessment of care needs, development, implementation and evaluation of care programmes, and the setting of standards.
The CNS will work in close partnership with consultants, nurse specialists and external agencies to ensure all patients receive a high‑quality service. The CNS will coordinate multidisciplinary care, act as an effective practitioner and professional role model, work independently and as part of a team, participate in innovation and evidence‑based practice through professional leadership, support the clinical team in liaison with the Sister/Charge Nurse, and encourage and empower staff to develop personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential.
