University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is currently unable to provide sponsorship for this role. If you hold a graduate visa, you may apply, but you must have at least six months until the visa expires at the start of employment, and the Trust will be unable to offer sponsorship at the end of the graduate visa.
We are looking for a confident, well‑presented individual to join our phlebotomy team. Collecting quality blood samples from patients is vital for many medical investigations. Successful applicants should enjoy working with people, possess good communication skills, and be able to work both independently and collaboratively.
Job SummaryBased at Royal Stoke, the successful applicant will work at community centres as well as Royal Stoke and County Hospitals. Responsibilities include performing phlebotomy services across North Midlands in hospital wards, community walk‑in centres, and appointment‑based clinics.
Responsibilities- Conduct phlebotomy services across Royal Stoke and County Hospitals, ward‑based sites, community walk‑in centres, and appointment‑based clinics.
- Work independently and as part of a team while ensuring high standards of care.
- Use basic keyboard skills for record keeping.
- Travel to community phlebotomy clinics; a suitable car is required. The vehicle must be insured for Class 1 business use and for the transportation of pathology samples. Expense reimbursement will follow Trust policy.
- NVQ/QCF level 2 or apprenticeship level 2, or equivalent in a related subject, or GCSE English and Maths at C grade or above.
- GCSE at grade C or above (or equivalent) in a science subject.
- Care related NVQ.
- Evidence of manual dexterity and technical work.
- Experience working as part of a team.
- Previous work involving phlebotomy.
- Work experience in a healthcare role or similar.
- Ability to work to defined protocols and seek advice where appropriate.
- Basic keyboard skills.
Job Requirements
- Understanding of the job requirements.
- Must have transport and be able to travel to outreach/walk‑in phlebotomy clinics.
