Howard James Recruitment is delighted to be working with a well-established and growing business in the fire and security sector to recruit an experienced Finance Manager. This is a senior, hands‑on role offering the opportunity to take full ownership of the finance function, influence financial strategy, and play a key part in supporting continued business growth. It's an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
The Role- Leading and managing the finance team
- Developing and delivering financial strategy aligned with business growth plans
- Overseeing budgeting, forecasting and long‑term financial planning
- Preparing and presenting monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
- Monitoring cash flow, profitability and overall financial performance
- Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, tax obligations and financial regulations
- Managing payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Leading audits and liaising with external auditors and regulatory bodies
- Providing strategic financial insight to support decision‑making and business development
- Identifying efficiencies, cost‑saving opportunities and implementing strong financial controls
- Working closely with department heads on budgets and performance tracking
- Managing relationships with banks and external stakeholders
To be successful in this role, you will be a confident and proactive finance professional with strong leadership skills. You will ideally have:
- A professional finance qualification (ACCA, AAT, CIMA) or be qualified by experience
- Proven experience in a senior finance role within a commercial or service‑based environment
- Strong financial planning, analysis and reporting expertise
- Excellent Excel skills and experience using Sage and Xero
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines
- A collaborative approach and the confidence to influence at all levels
