We are currently recruiting for experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join one of our client's specialist schools in Stoke-on-Trent.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a supportive and innovative setting where you will make a positive impact on the lives of young people with complex needs, including those related to autism, Asperger's Syndrome, and other conditions.
The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping pupils reach their full potential in both their learning and general wellbeing. You will be part of a team committed to creating a safe and stimulating environment, tailored to the individual needs of each child.
Your duties will include:
- Supporting children with their learning across a broad and balanced curriculum
- Providing assistance with care needs where necessary
- Managing positive behaviour, with a focus on individualised approaches
- Developing supportive relationships with pupils to promote safety, independence, and personal growth
- Working alongside the class teacher to ensure high-quality, differentiated educational activities
- Being flexible and adapting to the varied needs of the pupils
Skills &
Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
- Experience working with children with SEN, either in a paid or voluntary capacity
- A recognised qualification in Support Work for Teaching and Learning (Level 2 or above) is desirable, but not essential
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) is essential
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
- Understanding or experience of working with pupils with SEN, SEMH, or ASD
- The ability to adapt and take a creative approach to meeting the individual needs of each pupil
- A positive, compassionate attitude with the ability to encourage and inspire
