Salary:
£23,000 to £28,000 per annum, depending on experience (not pro rata)

Hours:

37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday

About the role

As Senior Pastoral Support Worker, you will lead and deliver high-quality pastoral care across the school. Working closely with pupils, teaching staff, families, and external professionals, you will support students’ emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement in learning.

You will be a trusted adult for pupils who need additional guidance, providing structure, encouragement, and calm support during challenging moments.

Key Responsibilities

Provide individual pastoral and behavioural support to pupils

Monitor the social, emotional and behavioural development of students within the school, liaising with the staff team and offering support where necessary

Receive, supervise and support pupils who are not ready for learning or who have barriers to learning.

Support the assessment of pupils to determine those in need of particular help and support.

Assist in the development and implementation of individual Education/ Behavioural/ Support/ Mentoring plans and behaviour management strategies.

Help to develop one to one mentoring sessions with pupils and provide support for distressed pupils.

Provide information and advice to enable pupils to make choices about their own learning, behaviour and attendance.

Support the challenge and motivation of pupils, promoting and reinforcing self-esteem.

Support pupils’ access to learning using appropriate strategies and resources.

To respond to pupils unable to access learning; ensuring a calm environment.

What We’re Looking For

A caring, proactive professional with experience supporting children or young people

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships

Confidence in managing behaviour and supporting emotional regulation

A team player who can also work independently and show initiative

GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) or above in English and Maths
