Overview
The post-holder will work within the Gastroenterology team providing medical cover on a dedicated Gastro/Hepatology ward, in conjunction with another SHO and the consultant who provides cover to the ward. Participation in out-of-hours-work and weekend ward rounds is required as part of this post. The post-holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the patients on the ward, the majority of whom will have had a period on another hospital ward prior to transfer to Gastro / Specialised Medicine.
The consultant facilitates a morning Board Round with a requirement to work towards prompt discharges, aiming for Home before Lunch.

- Provide medical cover on a dedicated Gastro/Hepatology ward in conjunction with another SHO and the consultant.

- Manage day-to-day ward patient care, including patients transferred from other hospital wards.
- Support prompt discharges in collaboration with the ward team and the multidisciplinary team.
- Observe the Trust’s policies and procedures, including Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions.
- Comply with Health & Safety policies and safe working arrangements.
- Comply with appraisal, assessment and the proposed medical training programme as stipulated by programme leads.
- Complete Trust general and local induction.
