Bathurst Resources, New Zealand’s largest coal‑specialist mining company, is looking for a Trade qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic to join the team at Stockton Opencast Mine.

We produce over 2.2 million tonnes of coal each year and proudly employ over 550 people. About 80 percent of our production is used for steelmaking, with one third supplied to local Kiwi steel producers. Our high‑quality, thermal‑grade coal fuels help power many iconic food and dairy businesses. The Stockton Opencast Mine is located close to the coast on a plateau in the Buller coalfield, 35 km north of Westport.

We are looking for a Trade qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic with a proactive approach who will be an important member of our team responsible for light vehicle repair and maintenance. Your focus will be on maximizing vehicle availability and reliability, preventing breakdowns.

Current roster pattern is a 9‑day fortnight:
Monday to Thursday/Friday, from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm. Ideally you will have extensive knowledge and understanding of the repair and maintenance regime of light commercial vehicles, with previous work on modern Toyota 4‑Wheel Drive vehicles an advantage.
