General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. Duties include greeting customers, maintaining a clean work area, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and following all company standard practices across work centers. Tasks may be assigned across store areas as business needs require.

Responsibilities
  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear; reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats customers and associates with respect and courtesy; demonstrates professionalism at all times.
  • Assists customers as needed, including being register-trained, answering questions, and greeting customers; provides courteous and knowledgeable service throughout the store.
  • Provides prompt and efficient responses to customers; responds to service calls; resolves issues courteously or escalates to Store Leadership as needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks to maintain a neat store and supports merchandise presentation to standards.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company’s dress code.
  • Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery to ensure neat, clean and organized store areas.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor following monthly presentation guidelines and maintains brand familiarity within departments to assist customers.
  • Understands Loss Prevention awareness and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follows all MOS (Missed-Out-of-Stock) policies and proper processing and disposal procedures.
  • Follows policies concerning cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids and offline procedures; maintains accuracy with tender handling.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to efficiently perform duties and maximize productivity according to store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills

Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
Compensation

The base pay range for this role is $16.50 - $17.00 per hour. The base pay range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, and location. This range is one component of the total compensation package; other rewards vary by position and location.
