Under the general direction of a Caltrans Maintenance Area Superintendent (CMAS) or a Maintenance Manager I/II, the Stationary Engineer independently performs a wide variety of highly skilled maintenance tasks throughout the facilities located within District 10. Demonstrates superior mechanical ability, inspects, troubleshoots, and analyzes various problems and situations, and provides technical guidance and training to less qualified staff. Practices excellent customer service skills while in daily contact with internal and external partners throughout the facilities.
EligibilityEligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Stationary Engineer exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
