Primary Purpose and Essential FunctionsThe Master of Science in Athletic Training Program seeks qualified applicants for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Athletic Training position.
The Clinical Assistant Professor will be a core faculty member who is involved in meeting the program’s day‑to‑day needs, including, but not limited to, teaching athletic training courses, advising and mentoring athletic training students, engaging in scholarship, and fulfilling other roles and responsibilities. Core faculty report to, are evaluated by, and are assigned responsibilities by the Dean in consultation with the department chair/program director.
A core faculty member must be an athletic trainer or physician.
- Teach athletic training courses that fulfill CAATE curricular standards assigned to specific courses.
- Advising and mentoring students in the Athletic Training program.
- Participation in department, school, and university meetings and committees.
- Participation in CAATE continuing accreditation process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Contemporary expertise in athletic training and assigned teaching area.
- Evidence of ongoing scholarship activities.
- Evidence of ongoing service to the department, school, university, community, and profession.
- Membership in the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA).
- Athletic Training Certification with the Board of Certification (BOC).
- Ongoing certification in Emergency Cardiac Care as determined by the BOC.
- Current and in good standing state athletic training credential, upon credentialing of athletic trainers in the State of California.
- Doctoral degree in Athletic Training or a related field.
- Athletic Training Certification with the Board of Certification (BOC).
- Certification in Emergency Cardiac Care as determined by the BOC.
- Previous clinical practice in athletic training.
- Previous teaching experience.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical athletic training experience.
- Experience in a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accredited program.
- Evidence of expertise in collegiate and/or graduate‑level teaching.
- Evidence of scholarly activity.
- Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Evidence of excellent organizational skills.
- Evidence of maintaining electronic/digital student records.
- History of service in the Athletic Training profession.
- Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations, and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion of the institutional mission and values.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
