Senior Superintendent
Job Description
The Senior Superintendent is responsible for the daily operation of a job site, including scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment. Supervises all direct labor positions on the assigned project and manages and oversees any contracted work on the site to ensure successful project completion.
- Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction on the basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
- Interacts with the Project Manager to determine the project schedule; develops and utilizes "look ahead" schedules to assess progress and spot upcoming issues.
- Coordinates the pre‑construction meeting with the Project Manager prior to mobilization.
- Directs procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
- Ensures all parties involved with the project are informed of construction issues and progress by meeting with supervisory personnel, craft personnel, subcontractors, and clients as appropriate.
- Works with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within the project workforce.
- Consults with supervisory, engineering, inspector and supplier personnel to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
- Inspects work in progress to ensure conformity with specifications and schedules.
- Manages the project based on progress reports, material usage, and costs, adjusting work schedules accordingly.
- Collaborates with the Manager of Craft Resources to move personnel between projects, manage labor costs, and terminate non‑performing company staff when necessary.
- Prepares the Project Management Plan in conjunction with the project manager.
- Ensures consistent implementation of company policies, including safety, equal opportunity, quality standards, and housekeeping requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, or a related field, or equivalent experience, and ≥5 years of commercial construction experience.
- Health Care/OSHPD experience preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes in a GC environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to the project site.
- Strong understanding of building codes, design requirements, and blueprints.
- Good written and verbal communication skills;
Basic Spanish preferred. - Administrative skills: monitors progress and coordinates work activities; informs others of progress and problems.
- Management skills: establishes techniques for supervising subordinates and following up on delegated assignments.
- Integrity and adherence to ethical standards in all job‑related activities.
- Excellent problem‑solving ability; uses data from multiple sources to formulate alternative solutions.

- Ability to operate office equipment (fax, copier, telephone) and use spreadsheet and word processing software.
- Knowledge and use of CMiC preferred.
Salary Range $155,000 – $175,000. Eligible for a target bonus.
