About Us

Autoscan UK Limited is a leading provider of quality assurance and inspection services to the automotive industry. With years of experience and a commitment to excellence, we partner with top automotive manufacturers to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.

The Role

We are seeking a detail-driven Quality professional with a strong focus on First Article Inspection (FAI) to take ownership of preparing and submitting complete AS9102-compliant FAI packages, including Forms 1–3 and all required objective evidence.

This includes forms relating to Part Number, Product and Characteristic accountability.

In this pivotal role, you will interpret and balloon complex engineering drawings, specifications, and digital models to ensure full dimensional accountability, validate measurement results using CMM and conventional inspection tools, and rigorously review supplier FAIs for accuracy and compliance before customer submission.

You will maintain meticulous revision control of FAI documentation in line with internal procedures and customer expectations, ensuring adherence to AS9100, AS9102, and NADCAP requirements where applicable. Working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, supply chain, and program management, you will coordinate data collection, clarify FAI expectations with customers, and guide manufacturing teams on quality standards.

You’ll also support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to FAI non-conformities, contribute to process validation and capability studies, and drive continuous improvement across quality systems.

From performing hands‑on dimensional inspections to evaluating material and special process certifications and supporting PPAP‑style aerospace activities, this role offers the opportunity to play a critical part in delivering compliant, production‑ready solutions in a high‑performance aerospace environment.

Based in Stillington, Stockton-on-Tees this role is commutable from Darlington, Middlesbrough, Newton Aycliffe, Durham, Bishop Auckland, Hartlepool and Peterlee as well as surrounding areas within the region.

All applications will be treated in the strictest of confidence.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic DBS criminal record check.

We are a Forces friendly employer, and welcome applications from the Armed Forces community.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in aerospace or defence manufacturing environments
  • Strong knowledge of AS9102 FAI requirements and ability to create compliant documentation packages.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex aerospace engineering drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 quality management systems.
  • Experience with measurement tools and inspection techniques (CMM experience is often preferred).
  • Excellent attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills for interfacing with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with quality software (Net-Inspect, Minitab, Q-Pulse, etc.)
  • Knowledge of special processes (NDT, heat treat, coatings) and relevant certifications.
  • Green Belt or Six Sigma training.
  • Experience working with major aerospace OEMs
