OCU Connect is at the forefront of the UK’s utilities and energy transition sector. We deliver critical infrastructure across Substations, Grid Solutions, Manufacturing & O&M, and Data Centre/ICP projects – and we’re growing fast.
To support this growth, we’re looking for a Resource Manager to take ownership of how our people, skills, and assets are deployed across the business. This is a high-impact role where your decisions directly shape project performance, workforce capability, and operational success.

What You’ll DoAs our Resource Manager, you be the strategic link between operational needs and workforce delivery. You will:
Plan & Allocate Resources- Ensure the right people, plant, materials, and tools are deployed at the right time across multiple projects.
- Adapt quickly to shifting priorities and operational demands.
- Line manage site-based teams including Supervisors, Electricians / Wire people, Jointers, and Fitters.
- Support performance, engagement, and ongoing skills development.
- Partner with Project Leads and Operations Managers to forecast capacity and future resource requirements.
- Identify skills gaps, risks, and constraints – and help build solutions.
- Manage and develop relationships with third-party labour providers to ensure flexible, compliant, value-for-money resourcing.
- Work closely with HR and Talent Acquisition to secure talent and support onboarding and upskilling.
- Produce accurate utilisation data, dashboards, and resource reports.
- Support tendering, bidding, and mobilisation by providing resource intelligence.
- Help roll out consistent resource management processes across all OCU Connect teams.
- Champion compliance, safety, and high performance in everything you do.
You’ll be accountable for:
- Effective and timely resource deployment
- 95%+ planned utilisation
- Zero project delays due to resourcing
- Accurate, up-to-date resource data
- Strong stakeholder relationships
- Quarterly forecasting and capability planning
- Driving continuous improvement in resource processes
This isn’t just a scheduling role – it’s a strategic function that underpins project delivery and operational excellence.
What You’ll BringWe’d love to hear from you you have:
- Experience in resource planning, workforce deployment, or operational management
- A background in engineering, utilities, construction, or infrastructure (preferred)
- Experience managing external labour and supplier performance
- Strong organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- A data-driven mindset with the ability to make informed decisions quickly
- Knowledge of industry safety and compliance standards
- Experience with scheduling/resource management systems (desirable)
- Experience managing or coordinating site-based teams (advantageous)
