Medical Same Day Emergency Care Staff Nurse

A rare opportunity has arisen for a fixed term Band 5 position on Medical Same Day Emergency Care.

Same day emergency care (SDEC) is one of the many ways the NHS is working to provide the right care, in the right place, at the right time for patients. SDEC is the provision of same day care for emergency patients who may otherwise be admitted to hospital. Medical SDEC is to manage medical patients in this care setting.

Under this care model, patients presenting to hospital or referred by a Community Health Care Professional, with relevant presentations can be rapidly assessed, diagnosed, and treated without being admitted to a ward, and if clinically safe to do so, will go home the same day their care is provided.

We accept referrals from many services including ED, paramedics, 111, Mastercall, GP's, Hospital clinics and other Health Care professionals. We have a dedicated direct referral line to stream referrals and offer advice & guidance. We also have two outpatient clinics each day, these are pre bookable appointments for specific interventions such as CT, VQ, doppler and more.
