Overview
We are looking for Staff Nurses who wish to develop their clinical skills within our busy Ophthalmic ward. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career within a speciality that is rapidly expanding, and that requires enthusiastic and motivated people so we can fully support our service requirements. The post holder will support the multi-disciplinary ward team in the overall day to day running of the ward within the integrated unit.
This role entails delivering ophthalmic nursing care for patients attending for preoperative assessment, laser and weekend emergency clinic ensuring that the high-quality standards of care that meet with best practice are maintained. The post holder is responsible for the assessment of patient care needs and the implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. Ideally you will have some experience working within an ophthalmic setting and be proactive towards developing your ophthalmic skills. We would also be happy to see you if you are newly qualified and we will provide a full teaching package in order to support your progress.
The post holder is responsible for the assessment of patient care needs and development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, both for a specific group of patients as the named care provider and in supporting the care of all patients in the ophthalmic outpatient department. As a registered nurse, you will assist in the management and organisation of work as required, ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times.
You will play a key role in the supervision and assessment of all learners and unregistered staff, providing a teaching role and acting as a named supervisor.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of £54.50.
This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary. In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
