Overview

The post holder will provide clinical leadership and direction for all practitioners in maintaining clinical and non-clinical standards of care and in implementing quality service improvements including ensuring that Care Quality Commission (CQC) essential standards are met.

The post holder will provide the leadership, operational co-ordination and management for the Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Wards and Home Treatment Team in the designated borough. This will involve working closely with the borough Associate Director and partner agencies to ensure the delivery and development of high quality services within the borough.

Strategic Development
  • Integrate health / social care professionals within the defined model with single line management in line with mental health structures.
  • The post holder will provide clinical leadership and direction for all practitioners in maintaining clinical and non-clinical standards of care and in implementing quality service improvements including ensuring that Care Quality Commission (CQC) essential standards are met.
  • Represent mental health services for Adult Acute Inpatient and Home Treatment Services at key strategic development forums as requested or.
  • Contribute to the development of a range of services for adults with mental health problems alongside other professionals and voluntary independent sector agencies.
  • Develop effective working relationships with other local stakeholders to contribute to the development of adult acute services.
  • Ensure active representation on the borough management team, governance groups, expand to other groups.
  • To develop the strategic development of the bed management bureau to optimise the use of the bureau.
  • The inpatient service manager will ensure all appropriate systems and processes are adhered to via the senior bed manager (job title to be confirmed) and will support the development of the bed management standard operating procedure and ensure adherence to the relevant sections of the bed management protocol.
Clinical
  • Ensure compliance with all CPA requirements across the inpatient wards and home treatment teams.
  • To be responsible for ensuring that staff are adequately trained to utilise and manage the clinical data recording system (Paris).
  • Promote the Mental Health Act Code of Practice and ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act requirements.
  • Review practice regularly and implement any necessary changes in line with evidence based practice.
