The Opportunity

A well-established Chartered Accountancy firm based in Stockport is seeking an experienced Mixed Tax Senior / Manager to join its growing tax team. This is a key role for a technically strong tax professional with a blend of corporate and private client tax expertise, offering exposure to advisory-led work alongside compliance.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage a portfolio of corporate and private clients, providing both compliance and advisory support

* Lead and support R&D tax relief claims, including complex and group structures

* Advise on group tax matters, including group relief and group claims

* Provide Inheritance Tax (IHT) advice, including estate planning and succession matters

* Review and oversee corporation tax and personal tax compliance work

* Act as a trusted advisor to clients, identifying opportunities for tax planning and value-added services

* Support and mentor junior members of the tax team

* Liaise with HMRC on technical matters and enquiries

* Work closely with partners on advisory projects and client development initiatives

About You

* ATT or CTA qualified (essential)

* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a tax role within a UK accountancy firm

* Strong background in mixed tax, with clear expertise in R&D tax relief, group claims, and IHT

* Comfortable operating at Senior or Manager level, depending on experience

* Technically confident with a commercial and client-focused mindset

* Strong communication skills and the ability to build long-term client relationships
