Close-knit finance team in Stockport office

We’re looking for an experienced Legal Cashier to join our finance team based in Stockport. This is a hands-on role for someone with at least two years’ experience working in a law firm finance environment, ready to take the next step in their career. You’ll work closely with a small team to keep financial operations running smoothly and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Processing client and office account transactions including receipts, payments, transfers, and write-offs
  • Managing client account balances, petty cash, credit card transactions, and expense claims
  • Handling purchase invoices and supplier payments
  • Producing monthly management reports such as fee earner and departmental performance analyses
  • Supporting preparation of management accounts alongside the Head of Finance/COFA
  • Assisting with internal and external audits by providing necessary data and reports
  • Maintaining accurate financial data in the practice management system
  • Supporting process improvements to boost productivity
  • Providing training and guidance on financial procedures when needed

What we need from you:

  • Minimum of two years experience as a Legal Cashier in a law firm setting
  • Strong knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Ability to prepare and interpret management reports
  • Experience with legal accounting software (P4W preferred)
  • Organised, detail-oriented, and a clear communicator
