Close-knit finance team in Stockport office
We’re looking for an experienced Legal Cashier to join our finance team based in Stockport. This is a hands-on role for someone with at least two years’ experience working in a law firm finance environment, ready to take the next step in their career. You’ll work closely with a small team to keep financial operations running smoothly and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities include:
- Processing client and office account transactions including receipts, payments, transfers, and write-offs
- Managing client account balances, petty cash, credit card transactions, and expense claims
- Handling purchase invoices and supplier payments
- Producing monthly management reports such as fee earner and departmental performance analyses
- Supporting preparation of management accounts alongside the Head of Finance/COFA
- Assisting with internal and external audits by providing necessary data and reports
- Maintaining accurate financial data in the practice management system
- Supporting process improvements to boost productivity
- Providing training and guidance on financial procedures when needed
What we need from you:
- Minimum of two years experience as a Legal Cashier in a law firm setting
- Strong knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules
- Ability to prepare and interpret management reports
- Experience with legal accounting software (P4W preferred)
- Organised, detail-oriented, and a clear communicator
