Consulting Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Fichtner Consulting Engineers Ltd is a leading technical consultancy with more than 34 years of experience in the UK and Ireland. We facilitate the investment and delivery of energy infrastructure projects that support the energy transition by providing design, intellectual and engineering services to developers, investors and owner‑operators.

We are recruiting a small number of professional electrical engineers to work as project managers based in our Stockport office, with travel across the UK, Ireland and wider EU.

• A good degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering.
• CEng status or working towards it with the IET, or similar.
• Significant experience in electric power generation/transmission infrastructure: design, project management and commissioning.
• Experience in HV, MV and LV, embedded generation, protection circuits, grid connections, and HV and LV switch gear, substations, switchyards and coordination with UK DNOs.
• Professional dealings with external and internal clients, attendance at project meetings, and delivery of high quality technical reports and models.
• Prior experience with electrical engineering sector software.
• The undertaking of feasibility studies, due diligence and design reviews.
• Excellent understanding of health, safety and welfare within engineering.
• Witnessing site and factory acceptance testing.
• Driving licence and own vehicle for business travel.
• Full right to work in the UK.
• Provision of site‑based construction monitoring in the UK or Ireland.
• Capability to work as part of a wider engineering team and also operate autonomously as required.
