HGV Vehicle Technician / Light Commercial Mechanic
Fiber Net – Stockport, England, United Kingdom
£3,992 – £42,173 per annum. Working 4 on 4 off, 06:00–18:00.
OverviewJoin our team as a HGV Vehicle Technician / Light Commercial Mechanic and ensure the reliability of our fleet and equipment. Your expertise will drive safety, excellence and seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities- Perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles and plant equipment to the highest standards.
- Conduct inspections, brake and smoke tests, and consult the Workshop Supervisor before starting work or booking parts.
- Diagnose faults and update the Workshop Supervisor on progress and requirements.
- Complete job cards and inspection sheets via tablet, ensuring all time is logged accurately.
- Quarantine and label defective parts/tools, reporting to the Workshop Supervisor.
- Adhere to Health and Safety guidelines, ISO
9001 standards and environmental policies. - Actively promote a safe work environment by reporting hazards, incidents and near‑misses.
- Strong understanding of motor mechanics and vehicle maintenance.
- Familiarity with workshop operations and SAP systems.
- Experience in vehicle/plant maintenance, ideally in logistics.
- Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Competence (essential).
- Level 3 Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Competence (desirable).
- Forklift certification (desirable).
- Working hours/days/shifts: 4 on 4 off, 06:00‑18:00.
