The Opportunity

An established and highly regarded accountancy and business advisory practice is looking to appoint a Senior Auditor to join its growing Audit & Assurance team in Stockport This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced audit professional to take ownership of assignments, work closely with clients, and play a key role in delivering high-quality, insight-driven audits.

About the Firm & Audit Team

The Audit & Assurance team works with a diverse client base across sectors including charities, social housing, manufacturing, leisure and owner‑managed businesses. Audits are planned and delivered with a strong focus on risk, internal controls and commercial understanding, supported by efficient, paperless audit systems and robust methodologies.

The Role

As a Senior Auditor, you will:

  • Take responsibility for planning, leading and delivering audit assignments
  • Manage audit fieldwork from start to finish, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met
  • Review audit work prepared by junior team members and provide constructive feedback
  • Identify audit risks and evaluate internal controls
  • Prepare and review audit files, reports and completion documentation
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients during the audit process
  • Support audit managers and partners with planning, budgeting and client discussions
  • Contribute to the development and mentoring of junior auditors
About You

You will ideally have:

  • ACA / ACCA qualification (or be qualified by experience)
  • Strong audit background within an accountancy practice
  • Experience leading audits and reviewing junior staff work
  • Solid technical knowledge of UK GAAP and auditing standards
  • Confident client‑facing and communication skills
  • A proactive, organised and commercially aware approach
