Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications, with Epic proficiency preferred.
Responsibilities- Hospital ICU setting with 24 beds and an average daily census of 19
- Adult to geriatric patient population with diagnoses including ARDS, sepsis, stroke, STEMI, DKA, post-op complications, cardiogenic shock, GIB, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, liver failure, drug overdose, and ESRD on CRRT
- Patient ratio of 1:2–3; candidates should be prepared for the possibility of a 3-patient assignment
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
- Uses Epic EMR, Pyxis, and SBAR communication
- RTO maximum of 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- Navy blue scrubs required
- No schedule change requests or alternate shift requests will be considered; the posted day shift is firm
- Holiday coverage policy: if 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work 2 of them and may request 1 holiday off for approval
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
- Travelers must be away from all facilities within this health system for a minimum of 1 full year before returning as a traveler
- Full compliance must be completed on time; delays may result in a 2-week start date pushback due to a bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Candidates undergo a clinical review process prior to manager consideration
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration
- Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred
