Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a GA or compact license, BLS, ACLS, and NIH certification for adult and geriatric care.
Responsibilities- Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with adult and geriatric patients
- Common diagnoses include ARDS, sepsis, stroke, STEMI, DKA, post-op complications, cardiogenic shock, GI bleed, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, liver failure, drug overdose, and ESRD on CRRT
- Patient ratios are typically 1:2, with possibility of 1:3 assignments
- 24-bed unit with average census of 19 patients
- Uses Epic for charting, Pyxis, and SBAR protocols
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
- Floating within facility and scope of practice as needed
- Every other weekend is required
- Responsibilities include providing critical care for complex cases and monitoring patients closely
- Navy blue scrubs are required
- Block scheduling is not available and no special schedule requests will be accommodated
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Must be willing to float and take up to three patients if needed
- Travel pairs are not permitted on the same unit or shift
- Must have been away from all Piedmont facilities for at least one full year to be eligible as a returning traveler
- Maximum of 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed, with no RTO in the first week
- Holiday coverage is required as per assignment duration and RTO policy; no holiday RTO allowed if one or two major holidays fall during contract, one holiday RTO may be reviewed if three occur
- Compliance with all orientation and onboarding processes is required prior to start
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Active GA or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Professional license must be active at time of consideration
- Experience with Epic EMR required or strongly preferred
