Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a GA or compact license, BLS, ACLS, and NIH certification for adult and geriatric care.

• Work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with adult and geriatric patients
• Common diagnoses include ARDS, sepsis, stroke, STEMI, DKA, post-op complications, cardiogenic shock, GI bleed, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, liver failure, drug overdose, and ESRD on CRRT
• Patient ratios are typically 1:2, with possibility of 1:3 assignments
• 24-bed unit with average census of 19 patients
• Uses Epic for charting, Pyxis, and SBAR protocols
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
• Floating within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Every other weekend is required
• Responsibilities include providing critical care for complex cases and monitoring patients closely
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Block scheduling is not available and no special schedule requests will be accommodated
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Must be willing to float and take up to three patients if needed
• Travel pairs are not permitted on the same unit or shift
• Must have been away from all Piedmont facilities for at least one full year to be eligible as a returning traveler
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed, with no RTO in the first week
• Holiday coverage is required as per assignment duration and RTO policy; no holiday RTO allowed if one or two major holidays fall during contract, one holiday RTO may be reviewed if three occur
• Compliance with all orientation and onboarding processes is required prior to start
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate

• Active GA or compact RN license
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Professional license must be active at time of consideration
• Experience with Epic EMR required or strongly preferred
