Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a day shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience, BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications, with a GA or compact RN license.

• Hospital ICU setting with 24 beds and an average daily census of 19 patients
• Adult to geriatric patient population with diagnoses including ARDS, sepsis, stroke, STEMI, DKA, post-op complications, cardiogenic shock, GIB, COPD exacerbation, encephalopathy, liver failure, drug overdose, and ESRD on CRRT
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3; candidates should be prepared to occasionally take a 3rd patient
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00); no alternate shift or schedule changes are permitted
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
• EMR:
  Epic (used on unit); also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication framework
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Navy blue scrubs required
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• Holiday coverage is required: if 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work 2, with 1 holiday RTO request eligible for review — major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Travelers must be away from all facilities within this health system for a minimum of 1 full year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates are accepted
• Full compliance must be completed on time to avoid a 2-week start delay due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration
• Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred
