Overview
The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.

Qualifications- Education
- Graduate from a nursing program Required
- Bachelors Degree Preferred
- Work Experience
- No experience required;
New Graduates of a nursing program eligible - Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred
- 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions Required
- No experience required;
- Licenses and Certifications
- RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure. Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. Required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
- Additional Licenses and Certifications
- Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
- Addendum
- Cardiac Tele: ACLS Certification required within 6 months of start date (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 180 days)
- Critical Care: ACLS Certification required within 6 months of start date (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 180 days)
- Dialysis: CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) preferred
- Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS Certification required;
Emergency Department nurses will have 6 months to obtain PALS certification within 180 days - Infusion/Oncology:
Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification prior to independent chemotherapy administration - Pediatrics: PALS Certification required; PEARS or PALS as specified by location; within 180 days
- Surgical Services: ACLS; PALS if unit cares for pediatric patients; BLS required within 180 days
- Womens Services:
Labor and Delivery-ACLS within 6 months; NRP by orientation end; AWHONN Fetal Monitoring within 12 months; NICU/ Nursery/Pediatrics NRP by orientation end within 180 days
