Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Telemetry assignment requiring travel experience, a GA or compact RN license, and strong cardiac care skills.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital Telemetry unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
- Census is 32 beds with a 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Handles overflow IMCU cases and patients with cardiac, renal, pulmonary, and surgical conditions
- Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:00) with every other weekend required
- Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
- Cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia management, and post-cardiac cath care are primary duties
- Epic EMR is preferred; uses Pyxis and SBAR systems
- Rare call with a 2-hour response time
- Expected to manage cardiac drips, hemodynamic monitoring, and patients post-cardiac intervention
- Must care for diverse medical/surgical and cardiac cases, with occasional vascular, pulmonary, DKA, ortho, or CVA overflow
- Scrub color is navy blue
- Maximum of 7 days RTO allowed; no RTO during the first week of assignment
- Holiday coverage is required according to length of assignment and number of major holidays
- No blocked scheduling; travel pairs cannot be assigned the same shift on the same unit
- Locals are accepted at the same rate
- Requires two supervisory references for consideration
- Compliance with facility requirements and orientation schedule is mandatory for timely start
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Telemetry RN experience; travel experience is required
- Certifications required: BLS and ACLS
- Strong knowledge of arrhythmia interpretation, cardiac drips (amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, nitroglycerin, milrinone, heparin, etc.), and post-PCI patient care
- Previous permanent or PRN employment with the facility requires a minimum 1-year break before returning as a traveler
