The Structural Engineer will play a role in assessing, rehabilitating, and designing repairs for existing buildings across multiple sectors. This position involves hands‑on site work, development of structural restoration strategies, preparation of technical documentation, and oversight of project execution from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities- Structural Assessment & Restoration Design:
Evaluate existing buildings including residential, commercial, and industrial structures to identify deterioration, structural deficiencies, or repair needs. Develop practical structural repair strategies, including detailed restoration designs. Prepare technical repair documents, including specifications and contract‑ready packages. - Project Delivery & Client Coordination:
Lead projects from early concept through final construction, including contract administration and progress oversight. Maintain clear communication with clients, contractors, and project partners throughout all phases. Ensure deliverables such as drawings and specifications follow internal quality standards and structural engineering best practices. - Technical Reporting & Professional Services:
Conduct structural reviews as part of broader building assessments or Property Condition Assessments (PCAs). Produce clear written reports summarizing field findings, engineering recommendations, and cost considerations. Support proposal development for more complex structural assignments. - Team Development & Support:
Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical support to junior engineers and technologists. Contribute to a positive team environment by sharing knowledge and encouraging high‑quality engineering practices.
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (or equivalent) with demonstrated experience in steel and reinforced‑concrete structures.
- Minimum of 5 years in structural repair design, building rehabilitation, or related restoration work.
- Strong understanding of commercial and industrial building systems and construction methods.
- Experience overseeing project workflows, client communication, and contract administration.
- Strong writing skills and proficiency in preparing technical documents and reports.
- High attention to detail with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Proficiency in relevant design and review tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam).
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Willingness to travel or work remotely depending on project needs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently when required.
