Opportunity

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to support market expansion and partnership development. This role offers a high degree of autonomy and responsibility, with a focus on identifying new commercial opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and supporting long-term growth initiatives.

The successful candidate will work closely with technical, leadership, and external stakeholders to translate Sixone’s capabilities into compelling commercial and funding opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify, pitch, and secure strategic partnerships across the plastics, textiles, and sustainability ecosystem. Own the partnership lifecycle from initial outreach through contract negotiation and onboarding.
  • Lead grant identification and application efforts, including researching funding opportunities, preparing submissions, and coordinating internal technical inputs to support successful awards.
  • Manage prospecting, meetings, proposals, and negotiations for new business opportunities.
  • Maintain structured tracking of leads, opportunities, and partner interactions.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop clear, credible marketing and pitch materials. Represent Sixone in customer meetings and partner discussions, translating complex technical concepts into clear value propositions.
  • Monitor industry trends, customer needs, and competitive activity. Provide insights that inform commercial strategy and prioritization.
  • Represent Sixone at conferences, industry events, and partner meetings across Canada and the United States.
Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–4+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or sales
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical teams, senior executives, partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage complex B2B sales or partnership discussions, including prospecting, negotiations, and relationship management.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to track opportunities, maintain clear records, and manage a structured pipeline.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced startup environment, managing ambiguity, shifting priorities, and high levels of autonomy.
  • Strategic mindset with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for sustainability, circular economy principles, and technologies that enable meaningful environmental impact.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada, with the ability to travel to the United States for meetings and industry events.
