How can you make a difference?

Working as an integral part of the UK & Ireland Region service team, the Local Operations Manager provides strong leadership of the service teams in the region, being a role model for safety and delivering effective financial management for the region. As a leader, this role requires strong commercial acumen, leadership skills, a customer‑focused approach, and the ability to ensure all service activities are completed within specified time frames and quality standards.

What

will you be doing?
  • Overall responsibility for QHSE in your respective service area, implementing internal and external regulations to ensure QHSE compliance.
  • Display role‑model behaviours and actively drive safety and safe working practices in your service area.
  • Overall responsibility for the financial and commercial performance of your service area (CSO), including budget planning and performance.
  • Effectively drive and report on KPIs, meeting all reporting requirements.
  • Ensure operational performance in the service area by maintaining availability of Wind Turbine Generators (WTG).
  • Manage stock levels and inventory.
  • Provide leadership to the site teams and delegate to team leads to ensure work is carried out effectively, safely, and to the required standard, reviewing and managing team performance.
  • Recruit and develop all service employees within the service area, identifying training and development needs to build and maintain a high‑performing team.
  • Create and implement staffing plans for the area.
  • Analyse operational data to monitor team, individual and wind‑farm performance and act appropriately to share successes, address shortfalls and improve.
  • Ensure quality standards are always met and act as a role model for quality.
  • Ensure a smooth transfer from build‑phase team to the service team.
  • Create business plans for new service points if growth occurs or relocation is needed.
  • Oversee site safety auditing and reporting.
  • Manage site facilities.
  • Take charge of large operations such as gearbox exchange and improvement initiatives.
  • Manage customer operational topics and ensure effective and collaborative communication.
  • Review reporting from the site: maintenance, HSE, timekeeping and ensure reports are submitted on time.
  • Check employees’ time tracking regularly to ensure compliance with Working Time Regulations and submit correct data for payroll.
  • Work closely and in cooperation with local Project Management.
  • Work on other initiatives to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
What are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a leadership role within the wind industry or a similar sector and will have completed an apprenticeship or have relevant experience in a Mechanical or Electrical engineering role.

You will have a working knowledge in commercial or financial controls, be comfortable managing financial performance, KPIs and budgets, and have a qualification or relevant experience in business management.

Experience managing remote field‑based teams is essential, along with the ability to deal with the full spectrum of people management.

Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate must hold a full UK driving licence and be available to travel regularly, including nights away from home.
