Position: SAS Education Adviser (NHS Forth Valley)

Base Location; NHS Forth Valley

Hours: Part Time, 0.5 PA per week, 2 hour per week

Duration: Fixed Term until Mar 2029

NHS Education for Scotland is supporting the professional development of Specialist, Associate Specialist and Specialty Doctors and Dentists. The SAS Development Programme aims to enable SAS doctors who have not completed a CCT to achieve entry onto the specialist register via the Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR).

Overview

The SAS Education Adviser will work locally in partnership with the Director of Medical Education to support all substantive SAS grades in the NHS Forth Valley Health Board.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and communicate with the local SAS community about development needs and career aspirations.
  • Facilitate alignment of training needs to service development and improvement.
  • Support portfolio creation for appraisal, revalidation and/or Portfolio Pathway purposes.
  • Manage funding applications for professional development.
  • Raise awareness of training and development opportunities.
  • Participate in Quality Management
    .
  • Engage in the national managed educational network of Education Advisers
    .
Qualifications

The successful candidate will be a qualified doctor or dentist who already holds a substantive post at SAS grade. Flexibility around working hours is required; work will largely be within office hours, Monday to Friday.
