NHS Education for Scotland is supporting the professional development of Specialist, Associate Specialist and Specialty Doctors and Dentists. The SAS Development Programme aims to enable SAS doctors who have not completed a CCT to achieve entry onto the specialist register via the Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR).
OverviewThe SAS Education Adviser will work locally in partnership with the Director of Medical Education to support all substantive SAS grades in the NHS Forth Valley Health Board.
Responsibilities- Identify and communicate with the local SAS community about development needs and career aspirations.
- Facilitate alignment of training needs to service development and improvement.
- Support portfolio creation for appraisal, revalidation and/or Portfolio Pathway purposes.
- Manage funding applications for professional development.
- Raise awareness of training and development opportunities.
- Participate in Quality Management
. - Engage in the national managed educational network of Education Advisers

The successful candidate will be a qualified doctor or dentist who already holds a substantive post at SAS grade. Flexibility around working hours is required; work will largely be within office hours, Monday to Friday.
Application Process & ConditionsApplications are received through the NHS Scotland recruitment portal. Candidates may be considered on a secondment or SLA basis. The appointment is fixed term for approximately 3 years until 31st March 2029.
