Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join our established ANP team within FV Prison healthcare and participate in the ongoing development and transformation of nursing practice within the custodial setting. Responsibilities
  • Apply high levels of decision making to assess and treat patients within our 3 national prisons.
  • Ensure patient health needs are met through autonomous diagnosis and management of patient conditions through assessment, treatment, and review planning, in partnership with patients.
  • Provide specialist advice and education to healthcare professionals, SPS partners and patients.
  • Collaborate across prison healthcare teams to develop the service, implement and evaluate evidence-based standards, guidelines and policy.
  • Support the Healthcare Manager in developing the service to assure safe, patient-centred and effective care delivery using the four pillars of advanced practice.
Qualifications

As a Registered General Nurse with substantial post-registration experience you must have completed and be utilising in practice at least one Masters level qualification in Advanced Practice and be willing or already undertaking a second which enables competence in:

  • Advanced Clinical Assessment
  • Clinical Decision Making
  • Non-medical Prescribing - V300

Excellent professional leadership, teamwork, advanced clinical assessment and decision making skills are essential. Flexibility to the needs of the role and service is required, with the ability to support the Healthcare Manager in developing the service to ensure safe, patient-centred and effective care delivery.

Additional Details

Hours are Monday to Friday hrs with occasional Saturday morning clinics (approximately 1 in
7) to facilitate admission clinic at HMP Stirling. Ability to travel across all 3 prison sites is required; this may involve travel between sites in one day.

The duties require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. More information is available at  A current UK NMC pin is also required for this post. Annex 21 Pay arrangements apply;
Trainee ANP candidates will be placed on Band 7 Annex 21 and will undergo a defined competency framework with training completed over a maximum of 21 months from appointment.
