Hourly

• Drive a Transit or Para-transit bus on campus, city streets, and state-mandated highways

• Safely transport University students, staff/faculty, and the general public on a fixed-schedule bus route

• Perform a prescribed pre-operational safety maintenance check

• Accumulate and record statistics for daily reports

• Perform all other responsibilities as assigned

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older

• Must be able to stoop, bend, or kneel to secure wheelchairs (ADA compliance)

• Must be able to manually operate a wheelchair lift or ramp

• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs

• This is a safety‑sensitive position under USDOT regulations

  • Must meet the requirements of 49 CFR Part 40 (Drug and Alcohol Regulations)

• High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)

• No experience required.

• Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of hire.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must have or obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a "P" (Passenger) endorsement and no air brake restriction within 30 days of hire
    .

  • The cost of CDL training will initially be covered by the department
    ; however, reimbursement may be required if the employee leaves the position within one or two years of completing the training.

• Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

  • Must be able to stoop, bend, or kneel to perform ADA wheelchair securement
    .

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
    .

• Have a current CDL w/"P" endorsement and no air brake restriction with two years experience.

• Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:

  Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement.
