About this PositionDrive a Transit or Para-transit bus on campus, city streets, and state-mandated highways
Safely transport University students, staff/faculty, and the general public on a fixed-schedule bus route
Perform a prescribed pre-operational safety maintenance check
Accumulate and record statistics for daily reports
Perform all other responsibilities as assigned
Must be at least 18 years of age or older
Must be able to stoop, bend, or kneel to secure wheelchairs (ADA compliance)
Must be able to manually operate a wheelchair lift or ramp
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs
This is a safety‑sensitive position under USDOT regulations
Must meet the requirements of 49 CFR Part 40 (Drug and Alcohol Regulations)
- High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
No experience required.
- Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of hire.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have or obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a "P" (Passenger) endorsement and no air brake restriction within 30 days of hire
.The cost of CDL training will initially be covered by the department
; however, reimbursement may be required if the employee leaves the position within one or two years of completing the training.
- Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:
Must be able to stoop, bend, or kneel to perform ADA wheelchair securement
.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
.
Have a current CDL w/"P" endorsement and no air brake restriction with two years experience.
- Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Class B CDL with Passenger endorsement.
