About This Position

Schedule, supervise, and oversee the day‑to‑day activities of the Electrical Distribution staff. The Supervisor serves as a vital link between the team and management, ensuring daily operations run safely, reliably, and cost‑effectively to meet University goals. The ideal candidate is a proactive and supportive leader who motivates, coaches, and develops team members to reach their full potential. The ideal candidate will also plan, develop, and coordinate Electric Distribution work activities.

Due to communication expectations of the position, the employee will be required to maintain a personal cell phone and will be required to be continually available during and after normal working hours.

Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, leather boots, arc‑rated FR gear, respirator, and voltage‑rated gloves, etc.). These items are provided and are not for personal use.

Employee may be required to be on rotating standby for emergencies and/or any other event after normal working hours on weekdays, on weekends and holidays, and to work overtime when work requires. The employee must be able to respond at any time of the day or night, when scheduled by management, regardless of weather conditions.

Position requires working some irregular and extra hours as needed for projects and emergencies, and may require work during non‑business hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and other times when the University is closed. Emergencies may involve difficult working conditions in extreme weather and on rough terrain.

The employee is required to provide their own basic hand tools and maintain them in good working condition.

Work involves regular exposure to uncomfortable and hazardous working conditions, both indoors and out, such as extreme temperatures, moving machinery, electrical sources, potentially hazardous chemicals, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises. Includes periodic exposure to unpleasant working conditions in wet cable vaults and during inclement or extreme weather. Regular work may involve danger working with high voltage.

Position requires regular physical exertion to complete assignments; ability to easily move about or remain in a stationary position 50% of the time; adaptability to oversee work in underground confined spaces, trenches, cramped areas, or on overhead distribution systems, and to oversee or participate in the operation of heavy equipment during extreme weather conditions and/or on rough terrain. Occasionally required to ascend/descend heights to accomplish work.

Employee must be able to lift, pull, push, and/or carry sometimes very heavy equipment and supplies, including the ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs, and occasionally lift in excess of 50 lbs.

Required to work safely and promote a safe environment.
