OSU Stillwater Campus – College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM)
We invite applications for a full-time, career-track position in surgical fundamentals and community engagement. The successful candidate will be a veterinarian with a solid foundation in small animal general surgery and a strong interest in clinical teaching. The position offers opportunities to work directly with veterinary students and contribute to community animal welfare through spay/neuter services and potential outreach initiatives.
Responsibilities- Instruct third-year veterinary students in the Junior Surgery course and supervise fourth-year students in the Surgical Fundamentals rotation, with a focus on spay/neuter procedures.
- Provide hands-on, practical instruction in small animal surgery and, if desired, contribute to didactic teaching and coursework in shelter medicine and surgical principles.
- Engage with the OSU CVM Rural Outreach Initiative to support community service through mobile veterinary care.
- Help shape the clinical education environment to ensure graduates have strong surgical competencies and a commitment to community service.
- DVM or comparable veterinary degree.
- License (or eligibility for licensure) to practice veterinary medicine in Oklahoma.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in shelter medicine and/or general small animal surgery (experience in shelter medicine and surgery is required).
- Candidates who have completed a rotating small animal or specialty shelter medicine internship are encouraged to apply.
- Eligibility for a faculty license in Oklahoma is required.
- Strong foundation in small animal general surgery and a commitment to clinical teaching and community welfare.
- Full-time, career-track faculty position with an excellent benefits package, 4 weeks of vacation, and funding support for continuing education travel.
- Appointment length: 11 months.
- Hiring range: commensurate with education and experience.
