About this PositionSupervision of veterinary assistants/technicians and oversight of the food animal department, including management of staffing needs and coordination of after-hours emergency schedules/shifts, while instructing/assisting year-four veterinary students and providing high quality veterinary assistance. Provide high quality veterinary technical assistance in accordance with the Practice Act. Complete other tasks that are assigned or necessary.
Required Qualifications- Associate's (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
Vet Tech Supv I – Associate’s of Science degree in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program with two years related experience and a registered veterinary technician – OR – bachelor’s degree in animal science or related field with two years of experience.
Vet Tech Supv II - Associate of Science degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program with 2 years related experience. Veterinary technician specialist recognized by NAVTA. Five years of supervisory experience.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge: Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as organization skills. Must be self-motivated and capable of accomplishing tasks with minimal oversight or supervision. Must be capable of interacting successfully with administration, veterinary students, staff and veterinary professionals. Confidentiality required.
Experience with restraint of small and large animals, administering injections, and placement of IV (peripheral, central and urinary) catheters is essential. Must have knowledge of equipment used within
VTHincluding, but not limited to: personal computer, telephone, copy machine, laser, video endoscope, diagnostic lab equipment, camera/video camera, electrodiagnostic equipment, etc. Must be physically capable of lifting animals weighing 50 pounds or greater onto exam tables and into elevated cages.

Veterinary Technician Specialist recognized by NAVTA, and five years of supervisory experience.
- Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses: Registered Veterinary Technician (in the State of Oklahoma) and Veterinary Technician Specialist.
